Howwood is not currently able to obtain broadband speeds of anything more than 1Mb.  In some parts of the village, the broadband speed is in fact 512kb or less than 3% of speeds being advertised by Virgin Media.  The reason given for such poor broadband speeds is related to the distance Howwood is from the closest exchange (in Kilbarchan) although the aged telephone lines and cabling in the village clearly won’t be much good either.
We would like to launch, via Howwood.com, an online petition as a part of a campaign to lobby BT to bring forward their plans for an upgrade in the service available to the village.  It would be good if you could add your name to our petition to get the ball rolling.
