Community Council Meeting Minutes 2008
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 10 JUNE 2008
PRESENT
Robert Scarsbrook (Chair), Linda Smith (Vice Chair) Bill David, Norma David, Christine Scarsbrook, Jackie Mackenzie, Margie Stewart, Douglas Paxton (Minutes), Andrew Wilson (Secretary), Nick Walker, Grace Weir.

Councillor Tracie McGee and Councillor John Caldwell.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
It was bought to the attention of the Minute Secretary that not all members had been circulated with the May minutes. He agreed to ensure that Renfrewshire Council had all the relevant email addresses. The minutes were approved by C. Scarsbrook and seconded by A. Wilson.
POLICE REPORT
There was no police presence at the meeting however the meeting was advised of a very serious incident on the A737 that afternoon and that part of the road had been closed.
MATTERS ARISING
The results of the village survey were distributed to the meeting and it was agreed that these should go on the web site. DPA ¡V The minute secretary reported that he had submitted the forms to the Information Commissioner and would be going on a course later this month on aspects of the DPA. Consultation re Community Council model scheme ¡V meeting still to be held and it was agreed to carry this forward to the next meeting. Local Area Committee ¡V R. Scarsbrook attended this first meeting of the 5th and presented a very full report. It was reported that the Committee had awarded funding to the Howwood Playgroup - ¢G400 and to the Howwood Sequence Dance Club - ¢G320. It was agreed to investigate the possibility of this Committee funding the feasibility study on the station/layby route. It was also reported that the Youth Challenge Fund could be approached to assist youth bowling and the Church Summer Club. July Newsletter ¡V information/articles to the Secretary.
PLANNING NOTHING OF NOTE TO BE REPORTED
The councillors reported that the Carsewood House site had been sold but details have as yet to be released. 6. Councillors¡¦ Issues Bins at George Street. Residents have been sent letters and the next action to be taken was for uncollected bins to be taken away and a leaflet put through the respective door. It was reported that the small parcel of land behind the Church had been sold. Hill Road Junction ¡V cat recently killed in front of school children ¡V driver drove off. St Clair has been sold however a 28 day notice had been serviced to take down the Conifer trees. There was concern that the Council had not taken similar action on the other house at the junction but it was reported the legal action was now being considered. Councillor McGee said that she was still chasing the Roads Department on the speed table proposal. School steps ¡V now on the housing department ¡V Roads however have offered some funding. A Community Councillor had paid a number of visits to the Council since applying for a licence for the fete and was concerned about the time being taken to approve. Councillor McGee agreed to close this up.
CORRESPONDENCE COMMUNITY PLANNING CONFERENCE
Secretary to be advised if anyone wished to attend. It was noted that the Council had now agreed to an evening meeting. ASCC Constitution - a response was circulated and agreed at the meeting.
RPPF
Coffee morning 25th June at School Wynd.
CFPS
Awareness session 18th June. SR of W ¡V agreed not to re-subscribe.
AOCB
Bulb planting agreed for 25/26 October with a budget of ¢G300 - slightly up on last year however prices have increased. It was agreed to concentrate on the new garden area.
Howwood Play Group - letter received thanking for donation and assistance with the Local Grant Board.
Administration - it was agreed to fund expenses of paper etc to the value of ¢G29.00.
War Memorial - Funds are now available from Environmental Services for repairs - agreed to look at repairs to the surrounding paths etc.
Summer Club - agreed to donate ¢G250 as last year.
Pharmacy - noted again that methadone will not be dispensed.
Letters have been sent to residents from MSP Bill Martin - good response in favour.
New road markings - as most people will not be aware of the new markings Roads Department to be requested to put up appropriate signage.
Field behind Beith Road Cottages - rubbish again being put into the field.
FETE
Fete Week Windband concert - sales going well - potential for 124 tickets.
Volunteers required for the door 6:45 . Agreed to supply bottled water for the band. Cheque to pay Band on the evening agreed at ¢G350. Teas & Coffees to be supplied, as usual, by the church.
Fete - everything seems to be in order - all to meet 9:00 at the school.
NEXT MEETING
Tuesday 8th July 2008 at 7.30 pm, Village Hall. Thereafter, second Tuesday monthly - 12th August (Scott Allan in attendance), 9th September, October AGM ¡V date to be advised.
